Misalignment of Page Link Buttons

In an effort to create artistically attractive websites, a common technique is used to make menu links appear as if they were on buttons. Typically such buttons are customised to the colour schemes of the site. The method involves making the Page Link Description part of the image of the button. When the mouse moves over such a button, the text seems to change colour and the appearance of the button may change as well.

This is accomplished by having at least two versions of the "Page Link Button" image which automatically changes when the mouse moves over the button.

There are several disadvantages to this technique.

  • Several buttons have to be created for every single Page Link.
  • This is quite tedious and error prone. It is very easy to misalign the text on the button.
  • It adds unnecessary expense to the development of the site.
  • Only the Web Developer can create a new Page Link Button for a new page.
  • Only the Web Developer can change the Link Text and that costs time and money.
  • Only the Web Developer can add new links to new pages.

Menu Links with WebProcessor101

We can use this technique if required. The only real advantage is that non-web fonts can be used for the button text.

We recommend using WebProcessor101 to automatically create the Page LInk Descriptions. This means you can add, change or delete pages on your site quickly and easily. We can put a background image of a button on the page links to provide a similar effect, although there are less font options available.

Helpful Hint

Multi Section Website Architectures (like this one) allow larger websites to be organised better for easy navigation. Most websites are Single Section "ladder" sites (page links on the left-hand side like a ladder) with very long pages. Create a Section and break the long pages up into bite-sized pages that fit onto the screen.

We can make websites at a lower price because we
know how to make websites easily and more quickly.
