Site Architecture

We offer a range of Website Architectures, which covers the vast majority of all websites available on the Internet. We demonstrate them as plain Vanilla sites (black, white & gray).

Single-Section Architecture

A single-section Website is the simplest. These are typically the smallest sites that have just one list of Page Links. This is probably the most common website Architecture used for small business websites.

The two Single-Section options are:

  • Echelle - Vertical Page Links on the Left
  • Chevilles - Horizontal Page links across the Top

Multi-Section Architecture

A Multi-section site has a list of Page Links for every section. This is for larger websites with more information. Each section has its own list of page links. This makes it easy to organise a large website so that it is easy for a visitor to navigate.

We offer five Multi-Section options

  • Distincte - This website is an example of Distinte Architecture. The Horizontal Menu is the list of Sections. Each section has its own list of pages which are displayed down the left hand side.
  • Reverse Distincte - The Vertical Menu is a list of Sections and the Horizontal Menu is a list of Page Links
  • Cintre - Both the Section Links and the Page links are listed horizontally.Classeur - This Architecture combines Sections and Pages into the Left hand Vertical Menu.
  • Classeur - The Section Links and the relevant Page Links from the Selection Section displayed in the Vertical Menu on the left.
  • Lavanderia - The Sections are displayed Horizontally with the relevant Page Links appearing in a "Popup" menu when the visitor moves his mouse over the Section.

Helpful Hint

Multi Section Website Architectures (like this one) allow larger websites to be organised better for easy navigation. Most websites are Single Section "ladder" sites (page links on the left-hand side like a ladder) with very long pages. Create a Section and break the long pages up into bite-sized pages that fit onto the screen.
